Anterior Composite Fillings:

This gentleman presented with numerous cavities and chipped fillings on his front teeth. Due to financial reasons, we decided that composite resin restorations would be the best choice. I used shade A3B Asteria composite resin as his teeth were on the yellower side due to his age. I employed techniques that I learnt from the anterior composite course by Dr. Sahil Soni to recreate natural shape and form for the teeth. The restorations were polished using soflex discs and a white stone polishing cone. Overall, the patient was very happy with the outcome.

Single tooth Composite Filling:

This 13 year old girl chipped her tooth whilst swimming. I used shade A1B Asteria composite resin and used soflex discs to recreate the mamelon grooves on the incisal edge – a trick that I learnt from Dr. Sahil Soni’s Anterior composite CPD course. The girl and her father were ecstatic with the results!

Anterior Ceramic Veneers & Crowns:

This lovely patient presented with numerous dental concerns. Her primary complaint was that she disliked her 11, which appears to look too white and big for her face. She also has numerous missing posterior dentition and loss of vertical dimension. The 11 had been previously root canal treated, with a gold post, core & crown and the 21 had a composite filling on it to close a diastema – both of which were done 30 years ago.

After treatment planning with the guidance from Dr. Sahil Soni, we decided to increased her bite by 2mm. We took facebow records and did a wax up. Our treatment plan was to do 7 composite build-ups on the mandibular teeth to increase vertical dimension, followed by e.max porcelain veneers on 13, 12, 21, 22 & 23, along with a new e.max crown on the 11. The porcelain work was done by the incredible ceramicists are Premium Dental Lab. The patient was thrilled with the final outcome and says that she looks a decade younger!

Cerec Crown

Ever since starting at Raceview Dental Surgery, I’ve been able to quickly build up my confidence in doing crowns – something that I really didn’t do during university. In particular, I enjoy using the CEREC machine to create crowns when suitable. Patients love the fact that they can come and leave with the crown completed in one visit and for me, I enjoy the process of designing the crown and the satisfaction of delivering one with perfect contacts. I’m still learning and experimenting with staining but here is on I did on a lower right molar.

Posterior composite buildup:

Posterior cuspal coverage fillings are a good option for patients who cannot financially afford a crown. This patient presented with a broken DP cusp on her 26. We proceeded to remove the entire amalgam filling and do a composite restoration. I employed techniques that I learnt from Dr. Sahil Soni’s Posterior composite restoration course to create nice contacts and occlusal anatomy. Achieving natural-looking occlusal anatomy is something that I have been working on for months, I find upper molars especially difficult compared to lower molars, however I was pretty happy with the appearance of this restoration.
